Twinkle

A delightful tale about a little girl and her grandpa who set out to sea to put the twinkle back in the stars - with a little help from an old friend ...

Hi! I'm Susan. I moved to the Isle of Bute in 2017, having brought my kids here many moons ago when they were still just wee potatoes:)

I fell in love with the place; where else can you find blustery beaches, whispering woods, or stunning hilltop views - 5 minutes from your doorstep?

Now, with two amazing little grandchildren, I wanted to add a little MAGIC to their visits ... and started writing my Bute Tales.

I hope that children who read the stories might want to look for a Bubble Buckie at Kilchattan Bay - perhaps search for Boots the welly dog on Windy Hill ...or see if Moleus P. Munch has been dining on the delicious words at the poetry trail in Moss Wood!

..there is teeny catch, however: they're written and illustrated ...but not yet published! So if you're interested in finding out when they're available, I would love it if you'd subscribe to my mailing list, and I'll let you know when they're ready to sit on your children's shelves!

How I make the illustrations ...

The pictures for each book are digitally hand-drawn - you can see some examples of them (speeded up!) below. I have in my mind's eye, what each page should look like, but I do change my mind a lot during the process as you'll see! It takes a couple of days to make each image, by the time I faff around with colours, effects and new ideas.
